Our clients had built their house but weren’t satisfied with their master bathroom, which was too small and lacked counter space.

As part of a master suite addition, we were able to extend and completely transform the bathroom into one they love. They were fond of Carrara marble and chose to incorporate it throughout: on the vanities, the tub deck and the shower seat. Dark grey 12x24 floor tiles in a straight herringbone pattern pick up the greys in the marble. The Kohler whirlpool bathtub features a Carrara tub deck, custom skirting, and a delicate chair rail capping off white subway tile. The tile and marble carry over into the shower, which is outfitted with body sprays, a handheld shower head and rainhead. Chrome fixtures and accessories are striking against the white and grey tones.

To complement the other luxurious features in this bathroom, the cherry vanities were designed to have a furniture-like feel. We achieved this with fluting, glazing to accent the beaded detail, and hand-antiqued wooden drop pulls and knobs. The vanities are actually mirror images of each other: Her countertop is recessed to make it easier to apply makeup in the mirror, while his is pulled forward for more counter space by the sink. Single towers on opposite sides complete the mirror effect.
