Orchard Park senior Kelsey Wenger has been awarded a $500 scholarship from Repp Renovations, presented through the Orchard Park High School Academy of Finance.

A member of the Class of 2017, Kelsey plans to study mechanical engineering at Clarkson University in the fall.

Kelsey participated in the Academy of Finance throughout high school. While she does not plan to pursue a career in business or finance, she found the Academy beneficial in teaching her life skills like money management, interviewing and resume-building.

Among her other extracurricular activities, Kelsey was a 7-year member of Destination Imagination and belonged to the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Additionally, she was captain of her cross country and track teams.

Last summer, Kelsey had her first internship experience at Polymer Conversions, Inc., an opportunity she received through the Academy. She considers the experience one of the highlights of her high school career, as she was immersed in her field of study. The internship taught her about different aspects of engineering, how engineers problem solve, and how business and engineering are closely related.

The employees at Repp Renovations would like to extend their best wishes to Kelsey as she furthers her education and begins her career.
